Edit a Donation details the initial workflow to edit donations. The article also includes information for donation fields that cannot be edited (ID, Created) and for fields that have a different editing process for unposted and posted donations (Change Fund, Campaign).
Other donation fields have the same editing functionality for both unposted and posted donations.
Editable Fields on Unposted Donations
The following fields can only be edited when the donation status is unposted.
- Donation Date
- Amount
- Payment Method
- Payment Data
- Donation Adminfee
Donation Date
- Navigate to the donation record.
- Click Edit in the left-side menu.
- Edit the Donation Date, then click Update at the bottom of the page.
Amount
- Navigate to the donation record.
- Click Edit in the left-side menu.
- Edit the total donation Amount, then click Update at the bottom of the page.
Payment Method
- Navigate to the donation record.
- Click Edit in the left-side menu.
- Select a new Payment Method, then click Update at the bottom of the page.
- Depending on which payment method you selected, there may be additional drop-down menus to complete.
- If you selected Public Securities as the updated payment method:
- Click [Show Securities].
- Click Edit in the left-side menu.
- For each line item, enter the stock Symbol, the Quantity of stocks, and a Description of the stock, then click Save.
- If you use a valid stock symbol, CommunitySuite will automatically calculate the high, low, and average values for that day. The high, low, and average values are obtained from https://www.alphavantage.co/. Unit cost is initially set to the average. You can override the unit cost by typing in your own value.

- Click [Show Securities].
Payment Data
If the payment method is set as Stock or Public Security, then this field shows which account the donations deposit in. This field will be blank for donations with all other payment methods selected.
- Navigate to the donation record.
- Click Edit in the left-side menu.
- Select the correct Stock Deposit Account from the drop-down, then click Update at the bottom of the page.
- The updated stock deposit account will show in the donation record.
Donation Adminfee
- Navigate to the donation record.
- Click [change] to exclude or charge an admin fee on the donation.
- This field will only appear if admin fee settings have been enabled on the fund.
