Step 1: Migration Kickoff Call
In the first step of the migration process, you will participate in a phone call with one of Foundant's Data Migration Specialists. They will help familiarize you with the migration process and work to set a timeline for the migration. In this step, you can also get answers to pre-migration questions including the following:
- What custom fields do you want to import?
- How much data do you need to migrate?
- What reports do you run regularly?
Step 2: Export Data
In this step, you will determine what data you want to migrate. It is recommended that you refine the data in your legacy system, so data is clean and consistent. Additionally, you will also review the standard fields to include in your export so the correct information and required fields are present for the import process.

Step 4: Transformation Work and Formatting
In this step, a Data Migration Specialist will format your data. They will ensure that your data migrates correctly and is accurately displayed within NonprofitCore.
Step 5: Import
During this step, a Data Migration Specialist will import data into a test site. Once the test site is created and data is added, the Data Migration Specialist will email the test site name and information for review. Use the checklists in your onboarding map to guide you as you review your test sites.
