  • Nonprofit Directory

Your Community Foundation can create a Nonprofit Directory of the nonprofits your donors want to give to. The Nonprofit module allows you to develop an online Nonprofit Directory that lists and directly links to the nonprofits you work with.

Your CommunitySuite powered online Donation Portal has a tab called Nonprofit Directory. Using your existing contacts you can compile a nonprofit directory of service organizations. The listings include contact information and mission statements and can help you connect donors, volunteers and those in need to organizations and services. The listings are organized in alphabetical order and by category. You will maintain the data, therefore if a nonprofit requests edits to their listing they will need to contact your foundation.

You should create and enter Categories to sort your Nonprofit Directory. It is helpful to create your categories before you add nonprofits to populate the directory.

    • Go to Nonprofit Directory from the home page under Non-Profit
    • Choose Categories from the left side of your screen to create nonprofit categories
    • Enter a Category name; such as Education
    • Choose the Create button
    • Continue this process until you have the different categories of nonprofits that you serve.

You will then add Nonprofits to your directory.

  • Add New Nonprofits to the Directory

If you DO NOT have a profile for the nonprofit in your system

    • From your Home page, go to Nonprofit Directory
    • Choose Create from the lefthand side of the screen
    • You will be re-directed to create a Profile for a nonprofit you wish to add to the Nonprofit Directory
    • Create the Profile
    • While still in the Profile of the Nonprofit, Scroll down the left side and choose Make Nonprofit

    Fill out the nonprofit information:

    • Pick a Status ("final" will publish online, "delete" marks the record with “delete" reminding staff that this nonprofit should be removed, "do not publish" allows you to categorize the nonprofit but does not add them to the directory)
    • Enter a Contact person for nonprofit
    • Enter the nonprofit's URL in the web address text box, eg. http://www.buffalofieldcampaign.org
    • Enter the organization's Mission Statement of only 150 characters (it will be truncated if too long) - this will be visible in the directory
    • Enter one contact name and email for the organization to be published
    • Select the Category(ies) to help Directory users find the nonprofit organization
    • Pick Save when done

If you select the status as Final, the profile will be added to your list of nonprofits in the directory and viewable online.

  • Add Nonprofits to the Directory from Existing Profiles

Adding Nonprofits to populate your online Nonprofit Directory can be done using existing Profiles or you can add a new nonprofit to Profiles for inclusion.

If the Profile for the nonprofit ALREADY EXISTS:

    • Select Profiles from the home page
    • Search for and go to a Nonprofit Profile you wish to add to the directory
    • Scroll down the left side and choose Make Nonprofit
    • Choose Save

  • Profile Is...*

Profiles may be assigned one or more specific designations via profile attributes. The profile attribute options are as follows:

    • Donor - an individual, an organization, a household profile that has donated to your foundation
    • Fund Advisor - a Fund Holder who has one or more funds at your foundation
    • Vendor - a Profile that bills you and you pay them
    • Customer - a Profile that you bill and accept payment from
    • Grantee - a Profile that you pay a Grant to
    • Student - a Profile that you pay a Scholarship to
    • Nonprofit - an Organization Profile that you would like to list in your Nonprofit Directory

To tag a profile with one of these attributes, go to a specific profile record and select the applicable attribute in the left side menu. To add additional attributes to the profile, repeat this process until all desired attributes are added.

Profile attribute assignments can be seen in the "Profile Is..." section of the Profile record. From this section, you may click the hyperlinked attribute to the record related to the specific designation.
