Extracting data from Host*Net for your Foundant data conversion to CommunitySuite is a necessary step in the data migration process.
If you access FIMS through an icon on your desktop, do not use these instructions. Follow the instructions in Data Migration: FIMS to CommunitySuite instead.
Before starting the data migration process, ensure that you have an account with administrator privileges on your computer and in FIMS. If you don't have administrator privileges on your computer, you will not be able to create the directory for the data.
Step 1: Copy the Program to the Host*Net Folder
Once you download the file attached at the bottom of this article, continue with the steps below.
The following steps only need to be completed the first time you migrate data from FIMS to CommunitySuite.
- Click Launch to open the My Files application from your Host*Net desktop.
- If the My Files window doesn't open, view your downloads and click the .ics file to launch.
- There may be a message that appears asking for permission to read/write local files. You will need to grant that permission to proceed.
- Navigate to your Desktop folder and click the caret to expand the Local Disk.
- Expand the Users folder, the folder with your Windows username, and then the Desktop folder.
- Right-click the "dumpdb.p" file, and then click the copy icon.
- Expand the S: drive, and then the custom folder.
- Inside the custom folder, right-click in the white space, and then click the paste icon.
Step 2: Prepare the Folder "dump" in Your S: Drive
The following steps only need to be completed the first time you migrate data from FIMS to CommunitySuite.
- Open My Files and navigate to the S: drive.
- Right-click in the white space, click New, and then click Folder.
- Name this folder "Dump."
Step 3: Create the Data Folder on Your Computer
The following steps only need to be completed the first time you extract data with the computer you are currently using.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the Local Disk.
- Right-click in the white space, click New, and then click Folder.
- Name this folder "fims."
- Open the fims folder.
- Create a second folder using step 2 above, and then name it "data."
Step 4: Execute the Program
- From the FIMS homepage, click the Tools drop-down menu. Next, click System Utilities and Run Procedure.
- Enter “dumpdb.p” into the Procedure Name field if it doesn't automatically appear. Click the box next to Disable GUI for Character-Based Procedure, and then click OK.
- Depending on the size of your database, this process may take 30 minutes or more to run.
- You will see something similar to the image shown below and possibly a “Not Responding” message. This message will disappear once the process is finished.
- To monitor the process, open My Files, and navigate to the S:\dump folder. When you see a file named "zipmaste.d" with the current date and time, the process has completed.
Step 5: Copy the Files
- Open My Files.
- Expand the S: drive, and then the dump folder.
- Hold the Ctrl key down on your keyboard, and then press the A key to select all files in the folder.
- Right-click on the selected files, and then click Copy.
- Expand the Local Disk, the fims folder, and then the data folder.
- Inside the Data folder, right-click in the white space, and then click the paste icon.
- If the progress bar doesn't appear, open the data folder in My Files or File Explorer. Then, scroll to the bottom and watch for the "zipmaste.d" file to be created. Once it is created, the copy is finished.
Step 6: Run the FIMS Tables and Fields Report
- From the FIMS homepage, click the Tools drop-down menu. Next, click System Utilities, System Reports, and then Display FIMS Tables and Fields.
- Check the Show Unused Tables and Fields box. Next, click the Order button, and then click OK.
- When finished, the report will appear in the FIMS Viewer.

- Click File, and then select Save As.
- Click the FIMS folder in the Local Disk, enter "tables.txt" as the file name, and then click Save.
Step 7: Compress the Folder
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the Local Disk.
- Right click the FIMS folder, and then click Compress to ZIP file.
- Name the file "fims."
- Rather than saving it on the Local Disk, your computer may only allow it to be saved on the desktop. You will receive a similar message as shown below, and then click Yes.

Step 8: Upload the File to CommunitySuite
- Login to your Live site in CommunitySuite.

If this is your first time logging in to the system, reference the body of the email you received from Foundant for your URL, username, and password.

- Navigate to the Home page and click System Data.
- Click Files in the left-side menu.
- Click Create in the left-side menu.
- Click Choose Files.
- Select your zipped FIMS file, and then click Open.
- Enter a description, and then click Start Upload.
- It is recommended that the description be "FIMS Data as of MM/DD/YY," with the date information being the date you moved the data.
- The FIMS zip file should now appear on the Files page.

Step 9: Remove the Stored Data From Your Computer
The following steps are recommended, but not required.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the Data folder.
- Hold the Ctrl key down on your keyboard, and then press the A key to select all files in the folder.
- Hold the Shift key down on your keyboard, and then click the trash can icon.
- A pop-up message confirming the deletion of several files will appear.

- Click Yes.
