Eligibility rules determine which opportunities applicants qualify for based on their answers to common questions on the application form. When application questions or eligibility rules need adjustments, follow specific steps to maintain accurate eligibility results for applicants.

When to Make Changes to Eligibility Rules and Questions
Make changes to eligibility rules and questions when:
- A question was built using the incorrect question type (such as a text box instead of a drop-down list for "High School Name")
- Duplicate questions exist on the application form
- List items within a question need correction (such as fixing a misspelled option or updating outdated choices)
- Eligibility rules need adjustment to better target intended applicants
- A common question is changed to opportunity-specific or vice versa
If you delete or edit an application question used in one or more eligibility rules, it's important to adjust and test the rules. Additional steps should be taken if the change is made after opening the universe to applicants. Below are some common scenarios and recommendations for handling them.

If Editing After Opening the Universe
If you need to edit or delete a question or eligibility rule after opening the universe to applicants, you will need to account for the effect on your applicants in addition to following the steps in the sections above.
After making the necessary question and/or rule adjustments, you will need to retest applicants' eligibility results. This is an important step to determine if any applicants previously found ineligible for an opportunity are now eligible, and vice versa.
