Troubleshooting steps are outlined below for common reporting errors or issues. If you need additional assistance at any point, contact Support.
Plugin Error
If the error message references a "plugin" as pictured below, refer to the troubleshooting steps in this section.
Before taking the steps below, scroll to the bottom of the error message. The last Inner Error Message provides a description of the issue which can help identify the specific fields to address in step 3.
- Click Reports.
- Click the pencil icon to edit the data set for the report you are trying to run.
- Examine the selected fields in the data set and look for the following:
- Does more than one field in the data set have the same label?
- Do any field labels have special characters?
- Do any field labels start with a number?
- Are there any selected fields without a label?
- If any issues listed above are identified, there are two options available.
- Relabel the fields directly in the form.
- Rename the fields in the data set.
Relabel a Field in the Form
- In the data set, identify the process and form where that question exists.
- For example, expanding the application form fields for the Spring Grant Cycle in the image below displays the fields with issues.
- For example, expanding the application form fields for the Spring Grant Cycle in the image below displays the fields with issues.
- From the Process Manager page, navigate to the form in the process, and then edit the question and change the label.
Rename a Field in the Data Set
If two or more fields have the same label in the data set, first consider if those fields should be combined into one column.
- If the fields should be combined into one column, follow the steps outlined in the Combined Fields section in Combine or Rename Fields in a Data Set.
- If the fields should be in separate columns, rename each field following the steps outlined in the Rename a Field section in the article linked above.
Additional Errors or Issues
Blank Report Table
If the report appears blank, there are two possible causes.
- The pre-filters for the data set could be incorrect.
- Revisit the pre-filters for the data set, including the process, request status, and form selections. Build a Data Set contains details on selecting pre-filters.
- A filter could exist on the report with incorrect criteria, resulting in no data in the report meeting the criteria.
- Check any filters applied to the report and make adjustments as necessary. Add a Filter to a Report contains details.
Blank Report Cells
If certain data does not pull into a report, there are two possible causes.
- The pre-filters for the data set could be incorrect. For example, the field for the blank cells exists on the application form, but that form is not selected in the pre-filters.
- Revisit the pre-filters for the data set, including the process, request status, and form selections. Build a Data Set contains details on selecting pre-filters.
- A field could have been missed when selecting fields for the data set.
- There could be a duplicate field with the same name as a field already selected. If this is the case, make sure both fields are selected in the data set and follow the steps in Combine or Rename Fields in a Data Set.
Multiple Responses Combined within One Cell
If data from multiple forms or requests displays combined within one cell, rather than displaying within separate cells in separate rows, there is typically an issue with the output selection of the data set. This is also the case if data displays in separate rows when the intention is for the data to display in a single row. Review Data Set Output (One Row Per) for guidance on the output options and modify the selection for the data set as necessary.
