Scholarships are comparable to programs that will make individual scholarship awards to students, typically for the purpose of providing financial aid toward students' education. Scholarship programs can be created from the fund that will pay scholarship awards.
Create and Edit a Scholarship Program
Scholarship programs can be created from the fund that is awarding the scholarship.
- Navigate to the Funds page.
- Enter the fund name in the Search Funds field and select the fund that is giving the scholarship from the drop-down list.
- Click the Relationships tab.
- Locate the Scholarships section, and then click Add Scholarship.
- Add the applicable Create Scholarship information, and then click Create.
- Name - Enter the name of the scholarship.
- Description - Enter a description.
- Click Edit in the left-side menu.
- Add the applicable Scholarship information, and then click Update.
- Name and Description are required fields.

- Fund Advisor - If checked, the scholarship program and associated awards will appear in the Fund Management tab of the Portal.
- Auto Approve - If checked, all grants associated with the scholarship program will move directly into the voucher stage. This will bypass the charity check and regular grant approval process.

- The foundation treats approval in GLM as approval to pay a scholarship.
- The foundation treats the posting of scholarships as approval to pay a scholarship.
- It is not recommended to check both Auto Approve and Post By Payment.

- Default School - If checked, the default school will be listed for all awards created from this scholarship program.
- Send Scholarship to SLM - This is for clients using an integration with SLM for their scholarship application, review process, and decision process.
- Post by Payment - If checked, the scholarship can be adjusted as payments are made. This gives the option to post each individual payment line for the award rather than the entire award all at once.
- It is not recommended to check both Auto Approve and Post By Payment.
- Pay Student - If checked, the student will pass through grants and vouchers without being designated as a vendor or grantee.
Close Scholarship Programs
Close Scholarship Programs Individually
Scholarship programs can be closed at any time provided that all payments have been made to all scholarship recipients and their scholarship awards have been closed.
- Navigate to the Scholarships page.
- Click Scholarships in the left-side menu.
- Click the ID of the scholarship.
- Click Close in the left-side menu.
Bulk Close Scholarship Programs
Scholarships can be closed using bulk actions.
- Navigate to the Scholarships page.
- Click Scholarships in the left-side menu.
- Click Filter to filter the list as needed before bulk closing scholarships.
- Click Close in the left-side menu.
- Check the box for each scholarship program to be closed, and then click Close Scholarships.
- Click Yes to close to the scholarships.
Open Scholarship Programs
Open Scholarship Programs Individually
Scholarship programs can be opened again after they have been closed out.
- Navigate to the Scholarships page.
- Click Scholarships in the left-side menu.
- Click the ID of the scholarship.
- Click Open in the left-side menu.
Bulk Open Scholarship Programs
Scholarship programs can be opened using bulk actions.
- Navigate to the Scholarships page.
- Click Scholarships in the left-side menu.
- Click Filter to filter the list as needed before bulk opening scholarship programs.
- Click Open in the left-side menu.
- Check the box for each scholarship program to be opened, and then click Open Scholarships.
- Click Yes to open the scholarships.
Delete a Scholarship Program
Scholarship programs can only be deleted if there are no recipients within the scholarship.
- Navigate to the Scholarships page.
- Click Scholarships in the left-side menu.
- Click the ID of the scholarship.
- Click Delete in the left-side menu.
- Click Yes to delete the scholarship.
