A universe is the framework you create to house your scholarship cycles in your Scholarship Lifecycle Manager (SLM) site. Active universes appear on the Apply page where applicants can start a new request.

When to Add a Universe:
- Setting up a new scholarship cycle with specific application start and end dates.
- Customizing how the scholarship cycle appears to applicants on the Apply page with a header image and description.
- Tracking changes made to universe settings through the Change Log feature.
Add a Universe
To add a universe, navigate to the Process Manager and enter the universe information.
- Click Tools on the upper navigation bar, and then click Process Manager.
- Click Add Universe.
- Enter the applicable information. The information will automatically save as it is entered or edited. Asterisks indicate a required field.
- Name - The name of the universe.
- Start Date - If the universe is toggled on, applicants can begin a new request within the universe on this date.

End Date - If the universe is toggled on, applicants can begin a new request in the universe until 11:59 PM on this date.
- This end date only refers to applicants starting a new request. It does not affect applicants who have already started a request in the universe.
- Header Image - This will allow an administrator to upload a header image for any process or universe. This image will be shown in the header of the associated card on the Apply page for applicants. If no header image is uploaded, there will be no header image displayed on the associated card on the Apply page. Generally, images will be scaled to fit the available space. For a landscape image, it is recommended to select a photo that is 500x150 pixels or less. There is a 200KiB limit and the file types that are allowed are are .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .svg, and .webp.

Description - If the universe is toggled on, applicants can see the description on the Apply page.
- To add a header image, click Upload a file, select an image from your computer, and then click Open.
- To delete a header image, click the trash can icon.
- To delete a header image, click the trash can icon.
- Click Change Log to see universe changes that have been made.
- The Change Log does not track all changes made to the UA process summary, but does include changes made to:
- Universe Name
- Start/End Date
- Universe Description
- Opportunity's Active Status
- Opportunity Name
- Applicant Description
- Evaluator Description
- Hide Opportunities With No Supplemental Questions Until Approval
- Installment Form Type
- Form Due Date
- The Process Change Log fields are listed below.
- Date - The date the change was made
- Name - The affected universe or process
- Property - The system field name
- Old Value - The old entry
- New Value - The new entry

Changed By - Name of the user who made the change
Universes Overview provides additional information on actions that can be taken once a universe has been added.
Additional Information
The order in which a universe appears on the Apply page is the reverse of how it appears in the Process Manager. For imported universes, the universe that was imported first into the site will be at the bottom of the Process Manager. If there are three imported universes in the Process Manager, the one at the bottom of that list is the universe that was imported first and it will appear at the top of the list on the Apply page. Also, if a universe is created in the system, it behaves the same way. The older universe will move down in the Process Manager but appear first in the Apply page view. The determining factors for the order of universes on the Apply page are the creation date and time and the imported date and time.
