Universe stages are the distinct phases a scholarship request moves through in your Universal Application (UA) site. There are six stages: Applicant Opportunities, Application, Eligibility, Evaluation, Decisions, and Follow Ups. The Evaluation and Follow Ups stages are optional.

When to View Universe Stages
View universe stages when:
- You need to understand the structure and configuration options available within a scholarship cycle.
- You want to build eligibility rules that determine which opportunities applicants qualify for.
- You are customizing approval, denial, or installment forms in the decisions stage.
- You need to build evaluation forms for committee members.
- You are assigning follow ups to scholarship recipients.
- Click Tools on the upper navigation bar, and then click Process Manager.
- Click the universe name.
- Click a stage to display more details.
- Applicant Opportunities - The applicant opportunities stage houses all the scholarship opportunities for the universe.
- Application - This is a required stage that contains the application that applicants will use.
- Eligibility - This is a required stage that determines which if any, opportunities an applicant is eligible to apply for.
- Rules to determine eligibility for the opportunities in the universe can be built in this stage.
- The failure message displayed to applicants who do not qualify for any opportunities can be edited here.
- Evaluation - This is an optional stage that allows the forms to be built that evaluators will use to evaluate.
- Decisions - This is a required stage that contains the approval, denial, and installment forms which can be completed when approving or denying a request or setting up intended payments for approved awards. These forms can be customized.
- Follow Ups - This is an optional stage that allows follow ups to be assigned to scholarship recipients.
- Applicant Opportunities - The applicant opportunities stage houses all the scholarship opportunities for the universe.
