Access and interaction with Custom Fields can be controlled by broad permissions and permissions specific to the page.
- Navigate to a system page that has custom fields and click Custom Fields in the left-side menu.
- Custom fields are available in Accounts, Donations, Funds, Grants, Internal Loans, Invoices, Opportunities, Profiles, Scholarship Awards, Split Interest, and Vouchers.
- Click Permission in the left-side menu.
- Click [Show Advanced].
- Make applicable changes, and then click Save.

By default, the admin group has full permissions and all others have view permissions. It is highly recommended that this remain configured in this way. Changing it to None for a group will remove their ability to display the list and access details of the custom field such as the import code value, which is needed if working with the field in other areas.
