The Power BI Connector is designed to enhance your reporting capabilities by integrating custom reports in CommunitySuite with Power BI. This feature allows you to do the following:
- Connect report tables from custom reporting to Power BI using the API.
- Build and customize reports in custom reporting and integrate them directly into Power BI for advanced analysis and visualization.
Install the Power BI Connector
Before installing the Power BI Connector to your desktop, it is recommended that two folders be created in your desktop's File Explorer, a Power BI Desktop folder and a Custom Connector folder within that folder. After these folders are in place, proceed with the steps below.
- Navigate to the Reports page in CommunitySuite.
- Click [show key] next to the report to be integrated.
- The show key button is in the API column on the reports page. If it is not available, click [enable] next to the report to enable API for the report.

- Click the Power BI Connector link to download the connector.
- Click the Registry Update link to download the registry update file.
- Close Power BI Desktop if it is currently open.
- Run the registry update file to configure your system to trust connectors signed by Foundant.
- Place the Power BI Connector file in the following directory: [Documents]\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors.
- Open Power BI Desktop.
- Click Get data from other sources, and then select the Foundant Connector from the list.
- The foundant connector can also be searched for on this page if necessary.
- Enter the URL and the ID of the report to be connected.
- Provide your username and token.
- This information can be found in the Power BI Connector Values section for the report back in CommunitySuite.
If this error shows while using Power BI, it indicates that the clock on the users machine is too far off and the timestamp is being rejected. Correct your computer's clock to clear the error.
